Irn Bru gate

As Turnberry bans Scotland's national drink

Irn Bru has been banned from POTUS Donald Trump’s Turnberry resort, because they are claiming it stains the expensive carpets. And this news has not been well recieved in Scotland.

But this news has not been well received by the Scottish people.

The Irn Bru ban was confirmed to local newspaper the Ayrshire Post by the resort’s general manager Ralph Porciani.

“We can’t have it staining when to replace the ballroom carpet would be £500,000 pounds alone,” Porciani said.

“We have villas here with Irn Bru stains in the carpets which I can’t let,” he added.

The Scotsman ran an editorial column entitled “An unfortunate stain on Trump’s reputation”.

“The resort may have ballroom carpets to protect but surely the stain on Trump’s reputation from this ill-considered decision is much, much worse,” the newspaper commented.

The story caught fire on social media, with one Twitter user commenting “This is effectively a declaration of war on Scotland.”

“Only one luminous orange object is allowed at Turnberry,” wrote another Twitter user.

It looks like Trump will be playing Turnberry when he visits the UK later this summer, so he will be able to judge the countries mood first hand, and why it is a bad idea to mess with a national drink.
