Horsey clears final jump on way to victory

Fantastic shot from the rough seals victory

David Horsey stumbled to victory at the Made in Denmark event played at Himmerland Golf and Spa Resort. A two over 73 just about got the job done as his rivals slipped away in the final round.

As his closest challenger overnight Tony Pikadaris shot a three over 74, with a late double bogey at 15, Stockport native Horsey had a two shot lead playing the last, but pulled his drive into a horrible lie in the rough. From a hanging lie, he hit a ridiculusy good shot, setting him up for his fourth European Tour title.

"As I was standing over that shot into 18, I knew I was two ahead, but I knew Terry could make birdie and get to 12 under, and when he hit it into 20 feet that sort of made my mind up. I only had 160 to the flag and I knew anywhere left was fine. I hit seven, making sure I kept it left, and it came out perfectly."

"It feels fantastic," said Horsey afterwards. "It's starting to sink in now. Coming down those last few holes I was very much in my own zone just trying to focus on myself. It probably helped that there weren't many leaderboards out there."

Charges were being made elsewhere n the course though, as Kristoffer Broberg shot a final round 62, leaping up 51 places for a share of second place. The round of the week, he made five birdies in six holes on the front nine.

Daniel Gaunt joined the group in second as did local Soren Kjeldsen. Gaunt shot a 65 while Kjeldsen's 68 could have been better, and applied more pressure on Horsey's lead if he hadn't have missed a three footer on 18.
