Manchester fire and safety officer Sam Carroll was looking for a round at Pebble beach, only to find himself paired up with Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.
At Pebble Beach you can’t play by yourself, even though a round will set you back a cool £566, so Sam needed someone to play with.
"I didn't believe it when I was told, 'Sir, you're playing with Real Madrid star Gareth Bale'," Sam Carroll told the Sun on Sunday.
Sam added: “I was shaking but it was fine. He was great. We talked about football.”
“He said (Manchester) United try to sign him every year but he is happy in Madrid.”
Five–handicapper Bale prevailed at Pebble beach: “He beat me by a few shots,” said Sam. “He hits his driver 300 yards!”
