Golf in shock as budgerigar leads BMW

European Tour under fire in fresh eligibility row

Allright so he's not a real budgerigar but he is leading the BMW Masters and his name – Lucas Bjerregaard – sounds a lot like budgerigar and, well, it's Friday morning and we're all a bit over excited about the weekend.

Budgerigars are from Australia. Bjerregaard is from Denmark. And that's where the trail ends...

Anyway, Lucas the budgerigar is from Denmark and he leads in Shanghai after shooting a second 66 to lead 12 under. His first six-under-par 66 included seven birdies and one bogey.

Opening day leader Sergio Garcia is three shots behind. Sergio was unable to repeat the brilliance of his first round  64, and a three-putt bogey on the 12th and a double-bogey seven on 13 means he is tied second on nine under par with Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee.

I'll take this...

Ian Poulter and Paul Casey are tied fourth on eight under. Poulter's fired a second consecutive round of 68, finishing strongly with four birdies in the last six holes. Casey bogeyed 12 but his 69 also included four birdies.

Actually, I think you'll find I'm a Ring Neck Parakeet (Thanks Bird Ed – Ed)

At the top of the Race To Dubai, Danny Willett (who needs to finish in the top 28 in order to overtake Rory McIlroy) shot a three under 69 to finish day two eactly... 28th....
