England Golf bring in Premier League experience

Heavy hitter signed up to help grow golf

Nic Coward was the general secretary of the Premier League until 2015, and has now been appointed as the independent chairman of the England Golf Partnership. His remit is to help grow the game.

As well as leading the world’s most commercially successful league, Nic Coward was non-executive director of the Football Association. He was also the first chief executive of the British Horseracing Authority.

England Golf Partnership’s main objective is to grow participation in the game. It brings together the amateur governing body, England Golf, and the PGA to grow the game with the support of the Golf Foundation and Sport England National Lottery funding.

The Partnership’s Whole Sport Plan for golf aims to increase and widen participation in golf, from grass roots to elite level.

He will also chair the England Golf Partnership’s new ‘Leadership Group’, which brings together key industry figures to collaborate on the development of a plan for golf in England for 2017 to 2021.

In 2014 the England Golf Partnership missed out on  £500,000 of public funding because not enough people aged 26 and over have taken up golf in the previous year.

We are hoping that someone with strong sporting experience from outside of golf will help make a difference. Feel free to give us a call if you want some ideas Nic.
