Dom Pedro Hotel & Golf Collection Celebrates

Successful 31st Grande Trofeu De Vilamoura

During the last week of November, players congregated in Vilamoura for the 31st edition of the pre-eminent Grande Troféu de Vilamoura over the weekend, where Jamie Lindsay Mann emerged victorious after three thrilling rounds of golf.

The stroke-play tournament, which has been held annually since 1987, was attended by 271 players. Competitors took to the Dom Pedro Old Course, Victoria Course and Pinhal Course over the 54-hole tournament, in search of one of the most historic titles in Portuguese golf.

With a total net score of 212, it was Jamie Mann who collected the much-coveted silverware, holding off a field comprising amateurs from 28 different countries including Spain, United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, France, Italy and Switzerland. The 14-year-old, who was born in Scotland, but has lived in The Algarve for a few years now, is one of Vilamoura Golf Club’s elite players to look out for in the future.

Notable guests that saw success at the tournament - sponsored by Vista Alegre Atlantis, Dom Pedro Vilamoura Hotel, Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa, Solverde Casinos & Hotels, Tivoli Marina Vilamoura, and Titleist – were former Finance Minister, Fernando Teixeira dos Santos (runner-up in the category four of the net competition) and Irishman Columb Harrington (winner in category one of the net competition), brother of three-time Major Champion, Padraig Harrington.

Pietro Dal Fabbro, CEO of Dom Pedro Hotels & Golf Collection, said: “We were delighted to welcome the return of the Grande Troféu de Vilamoura, which is a tournament we have proudly held for over three decades, and is now part of the fabric of Portuguese golf. It was my first year experiencing this prestigious event and I was overwhelmed with how well it was received.”

“It was wonderful to witness such an impressive showing of golf from the youngster Jamie Mann and everyone at Dom Pedro Golf would like to congratulate his victory. Moreover, it was also highly pleasing to find players returning, many of whom have competed in this event since it all began. We thoroughly look forward to having them back next year.”
