Colin Montgomerie claims second Champions Tour victory in 5 weeks

With win at the SAS Championship

Colin Montgomerie has claimed his second Champions Tour win in five weeks with a bogey-free final round at the SAS Championship at Prestonwood Country Club in North Carolina.

Monty began the final day level with Philip Price and Jerry Kelly, but pulled away with three birdies in his first nine holes.

His back nine was even better, with five birdies and not a single dropped shot. This was quality stuff from Monty, and he won by three shots from Vijay Singh and Doug Garwood with a final score of 16 under for the championship.

Here's his post-round interview:

This was his second Champions Tour in just five weeks, after his victory at the inaugural Japan Airlines Championship. He’s now in seventh place in the Schwab Cup standings, with the play offs just around the corner.

He’s made $1,326,484 so far this season, which is a pretty decent haul for his efforts. No one is going to touch Bernhard Langer though, as his five victories and seen him amass a very tidy $3,012,359. In second place, $577,464 behind is Scott McCarron.
