Claude Harmon signs with Cobra PUMA Golf
Put that in yer instruction pipe and smoke it!
Words: Tim Southwell
Claude Harmon III, one of the most pleasant golf instructors in the world (he always has nice things to say about GolfPunk) has become the latest big name to sign with Cobra PUMA Golf.
Last week we told you about Carly Booth making the move to CPG and now Claude will represent COBRA Golf and PUMA Golf as an ambassador, officially wearing the brands apparel, footwear and accessories, along with a full bag of COBRA golf sticks.
Harmon, who is currently ranked 22nd on Golf Digest’s 50 Best Teachers in America (well, what do that lot know, he's in GolfPunk's Top 10 Best Teachers In The World - in our list that we just made up). Anyway, Claude has been the Director of Instruction at the Butch Harmon Floridian since 2011. So he knows what he's talking about.
Previous to that, he worked and coached around the world in over 20 countries and on five continents. Claude's grandfather, 1948 Masters Champion Claude Harmon, and father Claude “Butch” Harmon Jr., (Don't, whatever you do, play 'Come Into The Garden Claude' on the gramophone at one of their birthdays, it'll be mayhem – Ed) have been the dominant teachers of their generation.
Modern Claude's teaching philosophy combines “old school” teaching concepts in a “new school” fashion. His current and former students include Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Ernie Els, Adam Scott, Trevor Immelman, Graeme McDowell and Yani Tseng. He is a regular analyst/commentator for Sky Sports Golf, on which he is really rather good
“I’m excited to partner with COBRA PUMA GOLF," said Claude, though he probably didn't shout the brand name like it looks. "It is an influential, progressive company that is focused on the future of golf and growing the game.
“They are continuously introducing innovation, style and personalisation to the industry and I look forward to helping share their message of game enjoyment to even more golfers around the world.”
“Claude is such a great addition to our COBRA PUMA GOLF family, adding to our team of world-class golfers, athletes and ambassadors,” said Bob Philion, president & CEO of COBRA PUMA GOLF.
“His influence on the game and dedication to golf instruction aligns perfectly with our brand and our mantra of game enjoyment, innovation and helping golfers of all level play at their best and have fun while doing it.”
Nicely done, Sir Bob.
