Popov out front in Florida

For the first time in her LPGA Tour career, Sophia Popov is the outright first-round leader. The 2020 AIG Women’s Open champion set a career-low opening-round of 64 at Pelican Golf Club this afternoon and holds a two-stroke advantage in the inaugural Pelican Women’s Championship presented by DEX Imaging and Konica Minolta.   Thompson ultimately shot an even-par 70 on the day and is tied for 22nd.

Birthday win for McDonald in Greensboro

Birthday girl, Ally McDonald grabbed her first LPGA Tour victory at the LPGA Drive On Championship at Reynolds Lake Oconee. The 28-year-old shot a final round three-under 69 to finish on sixteen-under-par and win by a single shot from world number five Danielle Kang. Mina Harigae of America and Spain's Carlota Ciganda shared the fourth spot after rounds of 67 and 69 respectively.

It was a very happy 33rd birthday for Mel Reid. The English player celebrated her special day in style, tying her career-low round of 7-under 65 on Saturday and jumping to the top of the leaderboard at the Cambia Portland Classic. With six birdies and two bogeys in Saturday’s 68, Green is in prime position for a repeat victory in Portland.
