The GolfBuddy CT2 GPS DMD

Tiny little box of GPS goodness

Golf GPS Distance Measuring Devices can seemingly take any shape these days. Gone are the days of a chunky unit that looked like a walkie–talkie. Roger that! Now it's full colour touch screens, iPhone apps, and watches that have become the most popular ways to measure how far from the hole you are on any given shot. The new GolfBuddy CT2 is smaller than any of those other GPS devices though.

Weighing around an ounce, and measuring 2.2" x 1.7”, the CT2 is small enough to be worn around the neck on a lanyard, or can easily clip to the golfer's belt. This GPD is tiny and unobtrusive. GolfPunk Editor Tim tends to prefer a GPS watch, while I prefer to use my phone. But I think we can both get on board with this one. It’s small enough not to bother Tim in his pockets, while detailed enough so I won’t feel the need to use my phone and kill its battery in the process.

Available in two colours, we prefer the white and blue option, the GolfBuddy will run for up to 18 hours on one charge. The clever little box will give you distances to the front, centre, and back as well as the distance to any hazard. Other features include a Dynamic Green View with Pin Placement always giving readings directly from the golfer’s angle of approach, a digital scorecard, Automatic course/hole recognition, clock, GPS tracking and an odometer (to measure how far you’ve travelled).

One great thing in GolfBuddy’s favour is they will never charge you a subscription fee. Once you have bought a
GolfBuddy device you will always have access to the companies data, each course is painstakingly mapped on foot, not simply reliant on Google Earth imagery. With 38,000 courses, we doubt you'll ever find a course it won't be able to help you with.
