The All New Callaway Chrome Soft Golf Ball

The Ultimate Spin Doctor

Golf balls have been getting softer in recent years. Gone are the days where we’re picking out a ball just because it flies further.  If any of you are old enough to remember the days of hitting an old balata ball you’ll remember how good a wedge used to feel, like hitting a marshmallow dart at the pin, watching it fizz back after its second bounce on the green. The new lower compression golf balls are starting to bring back that old school feel of control.

Callaway had a breakout hit with the original Chrome Soft ball last year. Designed with the amateur golfer in mind, it was very popular with their professional tour staff. Their new four layer model is a better golf ball in every way. The new Callaway Chrome Soft is a four piece ball, with each layer impacting the ball's performance.  Compared to the original Chrome Soft it spins lower off the driver and higher off the wedges. It feels soft at impact, and it flies further. That sounds like the perfect golf ball to us. How does it work?

The four-piece construction, mantle layer and Tour Urethane Cover all combine for even more control throughout the bag, especially with your wedges from 100 yards and in. Now you have even more spin for aggressive shots into the green.

The Dual SoftFast Core lets you compress the ball on iron shots for a long, straight flight. And it has amazing feel around the greens.

Despite it doing a lot to help you hit the Chrome Soft with more control, Callaway have also designed the ball for distance, and it's the only golf ball company that has the new Dual SoftFast Core, engineered for fast ball speeds with low spin for players needing spin reduction to optimise their launch conditions off the tee.

We got to try these briefly in Dubai, but our swing was so off it wasn't a great indicator of the ball's performance. As the weather improves we'll let you know how it works on the course.
