As part of the PGA Tour and DP World Tour’s Strategic Alliance first announced in November 2020, the Genesis Scottish Open is co-sanctioned by the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour for the second year. Scotland’s national open dates back to 1972 and has been a permanent fixture on the DP World Tour schedule since 1986.

The Joburg Open was first contested in 2007 and boasts an impressive array of past winners such as Major champion Charl Schwartzel and multiple European Tour champions including George Coetzee, Darren Fichardt, Branden Grace, Haydn Porteous, Richard Sterne and Andy Sullivan.
Germany’s Sophia Popov claimed a magnificent first Major title as she held off international challengers to win the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Troon. The 27-year-old, who came into the championship ranked 304th in the world and without a main tour victory, secured the winner’s cheque of $675,000 after a stunning two-stroke success over the famous Ayrshire links.
Royal Troon first hosted The Open in 1923, and the great event will return to the famed links course in South Ayrshire a century on from that first staging. In 2023 Royal Troon will be staging the event for the tenth time, the last time being 2016 when Henrik Stenson prevailed in a mighty battle with Phil Mickelson.
