Want to keep playing golf?

Listen to this doctor and stop going out!

If you want to keep playing golf, then listen to this intensive care doctor and take action, now. There is much discussion that golf is a sport that can continue socially. However, unless we ALL take heed of the advice to social distance in all parts of our life, the virus will keep spreading and the authorities will shut down the courses.

But this is not just about golf, this is about people in the UK and other countries around the world waking up to how dangerous this thing is an how we stop it. To use the words of the doctor who called into LBC Radio, the “Only way this virus stops is if we stop touching each other.”

“If you go to a public place and pass on infection, it may not be the person you touch but within ten people there will be people who will be dead.”

Golf courses across Europe are shut, with more than half the population unable to play. If we want to continue playing in the UK, USA and other countries it will not be petitions that keep the courses open but our actions.

Keep 2 metres apart at all times!

My family is self-isolating as my daughter developed a temperature and we are following the rules. However, I popped out for a very short solo cycle ride and was totally dismayed to see life in the London suburb where we live seemingly carrying on as usual. Groups of people walking side by side in the park and queuing for coffee in cafés in close proximity to each other. As the doctor on the call said it was like I was in a parallel universe.

This virus will not stop unless we stop going out and infecting other people. Apply the same rules you are hopefully applying on the golf course in everything else you do and that way together we can end this catastrophic disease!

And another thing...

LPGA  reschedules first major.
