Learn from Ben Hogan
Lessons from the greatest...
Words: Daniel Owen
There’s lot’s of arguments about who’s the best golfer ever. The greatest I’ve seen up close is Tiger Woods, and he won four consecutive majors. Jack Nicklaus has the most majors, Bobby Jones won his grand slam. But in a lot of ways Ben Hogan was the best ever. And he’s definitely the golfer you can learn the most from.
From the 1948 US Open through the 1953 British Open he won eight majors out of the 11 he played in, despite having a car crash in 1949 that was so bad doctors were unsure if he would ever walk again. He was definitely the hardest working pro of all time, and had a swing for the ages, a swing that has provided the basis for what most professionals teach today.
So if you’ve got some time, and you want to improve your swing, give this a watch. It’s Hogan himself, Johnny Miller and many more telling you exactly how to hit the ball like the Hawk.
It’d cost you £60 for an hour and a half with a professional. The 90 minutes you get to spend with Hogan and his disciples is not only free but priceless!
