Second course for Castle Stuart

Planning to get the go ahead

Castle Stuart looking over Moray Firth

Planning approval is being sought for a second championship course at Castle Stuart, which is about to host the Scottish Open. The new course will follow the shoreline of the Moray Firth, and adjoin the existing links layout.

The good news is that the Highland Council planning officers have recommended that next week's south planning applications committee grant permission, so everything is looking on the up and up for Castle Stuart.

The club has been asked to include measures to protect wildlife, including the building of a dune ridge to help protect birdlife.

It will take two years for the new course to be laid out, and will really put Castle Stuart on the map as a must play destination.

With transport links to Inverness being upgraded, and the daily flight from Heathrow to Inverness recently restored, the future is looking rosy for our friends at Castle Stuart.
