Robot Makes Hole in One

Back off Tiger, LDRIC's in Town

The best hole in one you'll see this week? Probably. Meet LDRIC (Launch Directional Robot Intelligent Circuitry), see what they did there? LDRIC. Eldrick. It doesn't matter.

Anyway this bit of kit is really good at golf. Used by many of the club manufacturers to test equipment, LDRIC can replicate a perfect and – if required – a not so perfect golf swing.

Technically not a hole-in-one, as it was the fifth attempt, it's still a pretty incredible feat that you can programme a machine to be that good at this ridicuous game. And the crowd went mental, showering the green with beer as if it was the real Eldrick who had made the ace.

It wasn't LDRIC's first brush with fame however...
