Pat Perez ends 7-year itch

2-shot victory at the OHL in Mexico

He generally starts the season well but even Pat Perez can't have seen this coming. After finishing 7th at the Shriners last week, Perez went 6 better here in Mexico.

It had been seven long years ago since the hugely talented Perez last won on the PGA Tour (when he bagged the 2009 Bob Hope Classic), but a blistering opening nine on Sunday which Perez completed in a staggering 31 shots, set him up for the win and some emotional scenes at the 72nd hole.

Pat, who was criminally left out of GolfPunk's Top 10 Worst Haircuts On Tour list last month, took centre stage on a day that catapulted him up to 3rd place in the FedEx Cup standings.
