Lynx Golf celebrates first tour win

Paul Eales takes Scottish Senior Open

British brand Lynx Golf is celebrating its first Professional Tour win after Paul Eales snatched the Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open with a final round 68.

Lynx have gone from strength to strength in recent years, sponsoring Laura Davies, Nick Dougherty and and the Ricoh Womens British Open, but this win validates the equipment's performance and should push them on to bigger and better things.

The 53-year-old from Southport claimed his maiden title on the Senior Tour using a Parallax driver shafted with a Project X, and a leather GripMaster grip.

Eales used a combination of Parallax long irons, 4-6, for forgiveness and Lynx Tour Blades, 7-PW for better feel and control. His irons were shafted with Nippon NS Pro 950 shafts and he was again using GripMaster leather grips.

Eales was seven shots off the lead heading into the closing round at Archerfield, but a fine four-under par 68 for an 11-under total of 205 gave him a one shot win over Peter Fowler and the 2013 champion, Santiago Luna.

Eales has now won at all three levels of the European professional game, with the Scottish Senior Open adding to his 1991 Audi Open success on the Challenge Tour and 1994 Extremadura Open win on the main European Tour.

Eales said: “It’s extremely special to join a small band of brothers who have won on all three Tours. To win a title in Scotland, the home of golf, is a privilege.”

Eales was one of the first ambassadors to sign with Lynx Golf when the brand relaunched in the UK and became a family-owned company. They offer fantastic value compared to some of the bigger brands, and the Tour Blades in particular are just as classic looking as it gets.

Lynx CEO Elford said: “Firstly, we are delighted for Paul. He is a huge fan of growing golf, especially among the young, and for all that he and Sharon (his wife and caddie) personally put into the sport he thoroughly deserves to reap some rewards. This win is a fitting tribute to his skill and commitment to the game.

“As far as Lynx Golf is concerned, we are confident that we produce golf equipment that is of superlative quality and the fact the Paul has won, not with bespoke clubs made only for him, but with equipment available to every player, underscores the point strongly. We are delighted to see our clubs in the hands of a winning champion like Paul as both he and we know they really do work.”
