Historic Blacksmith’s cottage for sale in Wales

Comes with it’s own golf course

This historic blacksmith's cottage, nestled in the heart of Snowdonia, is on sale for £790,000, which seems a lot for mid Wales. But it’s what’s in the garden that delivers.

The 400 year old home was once part of the Hengwrt Estate, but in the back garden there is Dolgellau Golf Course and it comes with the cottage.

Estate Agents Walter Lloyd Jones, who are handling the sale, say: "Although a par 66, this course is no push over and the four square greens on the 3rd, 6th, 7th and 9th are akin to Scottish links. They often confuse with their subtle borrows and breaks.

"The greens and tees, although over one hundred years old, are in excellent condition and often complimented because of their natural drainage, giving good year round playability."

Currently facilities at the site include a clubhouse, designed to appear like a chalet bungalow and completed in 2007 it has a south-facing veranda overlooking the first tee and third green.

According to the agents there are opportunities to extend the course further and turn the site into a perfect holiday destination, being positioned within the Snowdonia National Park and between Harlech and Aberystwyth.

"Dolgellau Golf Club is a highly regarded golf facility and benefits from an established trading record. Since the current owner bought the property in June 2004 it has established an excellent reputation."

The Brigadier claims to have played here back in the day, and confirms that the setting is spectacular, with views of Cader Iris in the background.

Cader Idris in the background. Lovely stuff.
