Golf Ball Delivery Drone Launches

Only in Japan

Golf In Japan. Early mornings. Nine holes. Big lunch. Nine more holes. Long days. Jet washing toilets. Monorails. Travelators. Oh and Kobe wagyu burgers you’ll lose your mind over. The rules of the game might be the same but the experience is something totally different. Add to it now delivery drones.

Push your own trolley? Don't be so old fashioned...

Kobe Burger. The best burger you will ever eat.

Japan's greatest triumph...

Rakuten is the Amazon of Japan. And a great place to look online for unusual Japanese golf gear, if you’re a golf pervert like me, but I digress. Like Amazon, Rakuten are trialing drone delivery. But unlike Amazon, they’re testing it first on the golf course.

Rakuten have taken a 20% stake in the ACSL drone company. So far ACSL have specialised in drones for surveying and building site inspections. But rather than use it for that, Rakuten are putting them to work as your own personal Deliveroo on the golf course, delivering mid round snacks to hungry and thirsty golfers. Oh and golf balls.

Can we get four Bloody Mary's to the 14th green please. Ta

And after a long lazy Japanese mid round luncheon, we think they're will more than a few orders for extra balls. Order straight from your smartphone, straight to you wherever you are on the course. Sounds brilliant to us. As long as they can deliver toilet paper and Bloody Mary’s. That’s what we get caught short of most often on the course…
