Garrick Higgo held off the challenge of Maximilian Kieffer to win his second European Tour title at the Gran Canaria Lopesan Open. The South African had carded the lowest round of his European Tour career with a 63 on day three to put himself in the driving seat and he had extended his lead to four shots by the turn.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout moved into the top ten of the Race to Dubai following his four-shot win at the Alfred Dunhill Championship. A closing three-under 69 from the South African left him on fourteen-under-par well clear of a group of four players in joint second. "I'm really pleased I pulled it off," said Bezuidenhout, whose win moves him to ninth in the Race to Dubai.
The European Tour’s South African Swing will continue next month when the Alfred Dunhill Championship is contested from November 26-29. Following on from the Joburg Open the previous week, the co-sanctioned tournament with the Sunshine Tour will be played at the majestic Leopard Creek Country Club and will feature prize money of R29million – the largest purse on the Sunshine Tour this season.
