The story of the day was undoubtedly Ian Poulter losing his PGA Tour card after missing the cut at the Valero Texas Open, but at the other end of the leaderboard, Bud Cauley and Tony Finau took the lead heading into the weekend.

After a wait of almost four years Jordan Speith finally taster victory again at the Valero Texas Open on Sunday. The American who had shown signs of a return to form over recent weeks had not won on the PGA Tour since he lifted the Open trophy at Birkdale in 2017. The fact he was playing in his home state of Texas made the win even sweeter for the 27-year-old.

Canada's Corey Conners claimed his second Valero Texas Open with a one-stroke victory over PGA Tour rookie Sam Stevens. It was the second time the Canadian had won the PGA Tour event in the last five years, having won the event in 2019. Conners shot a bogey-free four-under-par 68 to finish on fifteen-under to edge out Stevens, who had two eagles in his closing 66 at TPC San Antonio.
England's Matt Wallace and a resurgent Jordan Speith share the lead at the Valero Texas Open. Both players shot five-under-par third rounds of 67 to sit two clear of third place, Charlie Hoffman, on twelve-under-par.
