US Ryder Cup Team getting the backing

Only 9% of money placed for Europe

William Hill has reported that only 9% of money placed on the match has been for Europe to win, with 89% on a USA win and 2% on the draw.

According to spokesperson Rupert Adams:

“There has been an overwhelming move for Team USA and you could be getting 2/1 on a European victory in the near future.”

Given that the US has not won since 2008, this is pretty staggering stuff.

You can get 15/8 on a European victory, 10/1 for the tie, and 8/15 for a US victory from William Hill.

Danny Willett is 11 / 4 to be the top performing rookie, whilst Rory is unsurprisingly 4/1 to be the best overall performing European.

We think 12/1 for Lee Westwood to win the most European points is not a bad shout, given his vast Ryder Cup experience and that he is likely to play in all the sessions. It’s much better than the 6 / 1 that is on offer for Justin Rose, who will also form the spine of the team along with Stenson, Kaymer and McIlroy.

And we are still backing Europe when all is said and done.
