Tiger Woods misses the cut at Riviera

For the first time in nine outings as a pro

Tiger Woods has missed the cut at Riveira for the first time in nine appearances as a pro.

With three back-to-back bogeys early on the back nine, he couldn’t find the form to recover and make it through to the weekend, eventually posting a +5 76 to miss the cut.

“I missed every tee shot left and I did not putt well, didn’t feel very good on the greens,” Woods said. “And consequently, never made a run. I knew I had to make a run on that back nine, and I went the other way.”

Woods will remain at Riviera for the weekend, but only because his TGR Foundation hosts the event.

He will be back soon though, as he will be playing in the Honda Classic at PGA National in Florida next week.

“I need some tournament rounds,” Woods said.

Meanwhile, it is Patrick Cantlay who sits on top of the leader board, alongside Graeme McDowell. The former US Open Champion has fallen down the World Golf Rankings, and is now ranked 219th, so it is great to see him hitting some form at last, after what has effectively been a two year slump.
