The Golf Spiv Week 2

He likes to ramble and he's ready to gamble...

To be fair, he did say he was “half handy”, however, what a start for The Golfspiv…

Profit and loss for week 1 for the week

First Round Leader- Paul Lawrie, 300/1 EW,  75 points returned.

Top Englishman- Luke Donald, 12-1 EW, 2.27 points returned.

Outright, Louis Oosthuizen, 22-1 EW, 5.5 points returned.

Total return: 82.77 points, how do you like those apples!

Profit for the week, 67.77, so if you had £10 per point, you would be £677.70 UP already! Bosch!!!

A few words from the Spiv himself,  “tenners into tons”, I bloody told you!!

It’s worth noting a few points, super Paul “Bolly” Lawrie was so close to bagging us the lot on his first round, missing out by one shot after his opening effort of 66, beaten only by Dustin Johnson- so close to getting the full odds, especially given his bogie down 17.  Still enough to bag us a few bottles of bolly though...

On to this week, two very interesting events, The European Tour heads to the cash rich Crans Montana in Switzerland for The Omega Masters, whilst the PGA Tour heads to Canada for the RBC Canadaian Open

The Omega Masters

The Course

Measuring 6,850 yards the Par 70 with the notoriously difficult greens make this track a short game specialist for those who miss the green.  Couple this, with the course being in the mountains, meaning that balls will travel on average about 10% further than at sea level.  For me, this means you would be mad not to look at course form.

Garcia heads the field as favourite here being as short as 7-1 with Bet365.  Rightly so, having not pegged it up here for 9 years, prior to that he had some banging results, a property owner on the mountain, and a love of the scenery he’s rightly the “jolly” in this event.  Coming off the back of a half decent Open too, he is hitting some form

RBC Canadian Open

Now this could well be a mad old event!  A pretty weak field, so let’s hope that the big guns have swallowed up most of the book and look for some “value”!

Dangerously close to sobering up, so enough waffle, here’s this week’s tickles...
