Ram raid on scottish golf club

Deeside GC Aberdeen

That's all you need isn't it. You've polished the Callaways, re-stacked the ProVs and left the place clean and tidy for the following morning. You lock up and head off for a well earned pint. All is good in the world. Then you get a phone call at midnight: "We've been robbed".

A gang of nonces have driven their Mitsubishi Charisma through your pro shop plate glass doors. And they've nicked the lot.

The incident happened at Deeside Golf Club in Bieldside, Aberdeen, at 11.30pm on Thursday. Police Scotland has appealed for anyone with any information to contact officers on 101.

Inspector Kenny McGeough said: "I would ask that anyone who was in the area around the time in question and saw anything suspicious to contact the force as soon as possible.

"It is possible the car used could have been spotted in the car park by houses overlooking the area. Likewise, if you noticed anyone or anything unusual or suspicious in the shop or golf club in the days before, I would urge you to get in touch.

"I would also ask the public to look out for any suspicious golf clothes or clubs for sale in the coming days - it could well be the stolen goods."

He's not wrong. A few years back something similar happened to me. I was moving house and decided to paint the place before moving in. During that week we dropped off various bits and pieces ahead of the move and put them in the garage.

One morning I came in to carry on painting when I noticed the garage door had been kicked in. A couple of weeks previously I'd been custom fitted for a complete set of Honmas. They were absolutely mint. Plus they were worth £3,700.00.

Yep, when I went into the garage everything had gone, not just the Honmas but a load of other top GolfJunk.

The worst thing was that I just knew some dense herbert in a pub bought them for about £50, neither seller nor buyer ever having heard of Honma.

As Alan Partridge rightly said: "Scum. Sub-human scum."
