Olympic Golf Venue Completed

Ready for the return of golf

Olympic officials have announced that the Gil Hanse-designed golf course that will be used for next year’s Games is “100 percent complete.”

According to the monthly Rio 2016 progress report, the Olympic Golf Course, Future Arena and canoe slalom course have now been completed.

Officials originally planned to hold a test event on the Olympic course this month, but announced in July at the Open Championship that tournament would be delayed until the first quarter 2016 and would be a one-day event.

But at least it’s ready, and will have time to settle in. It’s just a shame that it’s going to be a straight forwards 72 hole individual strokeplay tournament, when it could have been so much more.
