Emilliano Grillo announced as PGA Tour Rookie of the Year

As voted for by his peers

Emilliano Grillo was rated the top rookie for the 2015-16 season by his own peers. Tour members who played in at least 15 official money events this past season were eligible to vote.

“Congratulations to Emiliano Grillo on being awarded PGA Tour Rookie of the Year by his fellow members,” said Jay Monahan, the PGA Tour’s Deputy Commissioner. “For him to win his first start as a member and to go on to qualify for the Tour Championship is truly an amazing rookie season. With young stars like Emiliano and others playing and winning earlier than ever before, the PGA Tour is in tremendous hands for years to come.”

Grillo only had three top ten finishes, but he did have 10 top-25 finishes and made 22 cuts in total out of his 25 starts.

He also won the season-opening Safeway Open, where he’s now defending his title.

Grillo is the first Argentine to win the award since Andres Romero in 2008.
