Awards for the Costa Brava

Named best region in luxury lifestyle mag

Torremirona GC

Costa Brava has been named named ‘Best Region’ in Square Mile magazine’s 2016 Golf Awards and is awarded its 18th Michelin star in the 2017 edition of the Michelin Guide to Spain & Portugal.

In its December issue, UK-based Square Mile recognises Costa Brava is ‘rapidly emerging as one of Europe’s top holiday destinations’ boasting ‘some of Europe’s finest golf courses’.

The magazine acknowledges the many attractions of this culturally rich region of northeast Spain, which is ‘steeped in history’, offering ‘a host of attractions beyond the fairways, including the Emporda wine route and the pretty cobbled streets of Girona’. The Costa Brava’s gastronomic reputation is also accredited as being ‘a foodie heaven, with a number of star chefs and rising talents’.

On the heels of that success comes recognition for the Ca l’Arpa restaurant, located in Banyoles to the north of  Girona. It has become the region’s 14th establishment to be awarded a Michelin star in the 2017 edition of the Michelin Guide to Spain & Portugal.

Costa Brava’s reputation as a leading golf travel destination is also growing, and the region has seen a rise in golf tourism numbers of nearly 70% since 2003.

Golfers visiting the destination can enjoy up to eight different courses and resorts, including:

PGA Catalunya Resort – home to Spain’s No.1 golf course* and Europe’s Best Golf Resort 2015**

Golf de Pals – Costa Brava’s oldest golf course, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2016

Club de Golf Costa Brava – one of the region’s oldest courses and a good test for all standards of player

Torremirona Golf Club – which enjoys wonderful views of the Pyrenees

Club de Golf Peralada – the region’s northern-most course designed to environmentally-friendly specifications

Par 3 Gualta – ideal for those looking to perfect their short game or new to the game

Club Golf d’Aro – Mas Nou - 300m above sea level and offering stunning vistas of the coast

Emporda Golf Resort – featuring two distinct 18 hole courses designed by Robert von Hagge.

So if you are up for fine food, wine and golf then the Costa Brava could be the destination for you.
